My awesome husband, Matt, sent me an article today that really touched and inspired me. As a Beachbody coach I get the chance to work with women from all different walks of life. But they all have one thing in common- they are striving to be their best selves. Some come to my groups just wanting to lose weight and have that perfect body- BUT a change happens... most leave the group with a new sense of purpose and self worth.
THATS the power of these support groups! We realize that we are not alone on our quest to be more and that really we don't want a perfect body- we just want to be healthier and happier.
We need to focus on being healthy, not having the perfect body!
In the article Jeffery R. Holland says,
"I plead with you young women to please be more accepting of yourselves, including your body shape and style, with a little less longing to look like someone else. We are all different. Some are tall, and some are short. Some are round, and some are thin. And almost everyone at some time or other wants to be something they are not! But as one adviser to teenage girls said: “You can’t live your life worrying that the world is staring at you...'"
What I do as a coach is not help people get the perfect body so they can look better than everyone else- I help people start on a path to better overall health and wellness- mind, body, and spirit-so that they can be the BEST version of THEMSELVES FOR themselves and their families.
That's what it's all about!!!
I encourage you to read or listen to this article at this link- skip to minute 8:15 on the audio or paragraph 10 in the text. I'd love to hear your thoughts on this topic!
