This week is INFERTILITY AWARENESS WEEK!Where’s my fellow Infertility Survivors at? I’d love to hear your story <3
Here’s mine...After almost 10 years of marriage we (yes, WE!) have made it through 10 pregnancies and 3 live births. It’s been a rollercoaster of emotions, to say the least. Matt has been a huge part of my coping and healing. The men behind Infertility are AMAZING!!
For those who don’t know- we eventually found that I have MTHFR mutation which is essentially a blood disorder. The doctors didn’t “classify” my disorder as one that needed treatment or even acknowledge that it was a factor in my miscarriages. But I did my research and fought to try medication. Low and behold, it worked. Now I have 2 beautiful boys and a sweet baby girl! I also believe my Crohn’s Disease and auto-immune issues played a roll in my infertility along with the MTHFR.
I’ve always been pretty open about our struggle to get pregnant and stay pregnant, in hopes that it would inspire and encourage others who were struggling to carry on and have hope. <3 When I was going through my hardest times, reading others stories helped me so much- helped me cope, find answers and move forward.
I also share because I want people to be sensitive about how they talk to women about having children- so much of it is out of our control and we are all doing the best we can! It’s no-ones place to ask or comment on how many children we do or don’t have. It’s a sensitive and personal subject for so many.
When we started having miscarriages I didn’t think I fit into the category of “Infertility” and really didn’t understand the type of support that was available for me. I found this article that might be helpful to ALL MOMS…http://bit.ly/1SNlyhE
I loved this quote from the article, “...infertility doesn't only include those who have trouble getting pregnant, but it includes those who have trouble staying pregnant, too. When 10 to 25 percent of all pregnancies end in miscarriage, there's a good chance that you know someone who has experienced infertility or baby loss, but maybe they've never opened up to you about it because of how deeply personal and painful those experiences can be.”
So, here I am- 1 of 8 women who struggle with Infertility- sending LOVE AND HOPE to all of my Infertility sisters out there!!!
I hope you will all take a second and read the article above, reach out to someone who is struggling and just BE their friend, be a little more courteous when you talk to people about having children, and in all just LOVE those around you and know that we are all doing the best we can, and really, we all just need a friend and we are all SISTERS!!! <3
